Frequently Asked Questions

The Don Summerville Scholarship recognizes the commitment of tenants in bettering the world around them and supports tenants to pursue programs in college, university, trad school, and any certification courses that will further their career development.

Recipients can apply to receive up to $3,000 for tuition fees and a $500 bursary for textbooks, childcare, transportation, etc.

Open to all Don Summerville relocated tenants that meet the following:

• Proof of good standing tenancy
• Currently enrolled or planning to enroll in college, university, trade school, or certification courses
• Demonstrate community involvement and/or leadership
• Can demonstrate financial need

An impartial Scholarship Review Committee will evaluate applications based on:

• Community involvement and/or leadership
• Academic accomplishments (if applicable)
• Financial need
• Workplace and volunteer experience (résumé) 
• Education plan

Past recipients who are reapplying may receive up to a maximum scholarship amount of $7,500 throughout the revitalization period.

One-on-one support is available upon request from a TCHC Revitalization staff and/or our partners.
